(January, February to late March and November)
In the low season, the castle can only be visited as part of a guided tour. Please plan about 60 minutes for this.
On your tour through the rooms of the castle, some of which are originally furnished, you will learn interesting facts from our castle guides about the history of the Guelphs, whose roots can be traced back to the 9th century and are therefore one of the oldest noble houses in Europe.
The establishment of the personal union between Hanover and England, the fall of the Kingdom of Hanover as a result of the war lost against Prussia in 1866 and information on the architecture and construction of the palace are just some of the topics that you will encounter in the palace.
(April to late October)
In the high season you can explore the castle on your own. On your tour of the south and west wing, you will find an exciting mixture of originally furnished castle rooms and information about the history of the castle and its builders, the Guelphs, who can trace their roots back to the 9th century and thus to the oldest noble houses in Europe counting.
